Fish Fabulous Fish

Fish Fabulous Fish

After 15 years of being a vegetarian I decided it was time to start eating meat again, mainly for health reasons but also because I really just want to become more adventurous with food. But it was a lot harder than I imagined, the thought of devouring a beef steak or a lamb chop was just that bit too much, so to ease myself in I started with eating what I consider to be the least meaty of meats, chicken and fish.

Cooking has always been a passion of mine, so I was excited when I had all these new ingredients to experiment with and within weeks I had almost mastered the art of cooking chicken, unfortunately when it came to cooking fish I just did not have the same confidence. The main problem with fish was the amount of choice, there was so many varieties I just didn’t know where to start.

Many friends of mine totally disagreed and said that cooking fish was one of the easiest ingredients to work with, so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and began to teach myself how to cook fish.

I have to say my friends were totally right, once you get the hang of it cooking with fish and seafood is an absolute joy, the selection available is fantastic, the flavours and textures are so varied you never get bored, monkfish, mackerel, salmon and tilapia are just some of the wonderful fishes I’ve tried, not to mention the wonderful array of shellfish and seafood available, it’s great, my only regret is not discovering these delights earlier.

Cooking with fish has now become on of my greatest passions, I love eating, cooking and buying it, I am always finding new and exciting fish and seafood on the market; if you like me love fish take a look at our fresh fish suppliers page and find out what wonderful products fish suppliers in the UK have to offer.
